SFFMA Public Service Videos Released

Earlier this week the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas released two public service announcements focusing on Volunteer Fire Departments. Both videos were made to address the issues that most modern volunteer fire departments face today. One video talks on the topic of the Texas Wildfire Relief Fund, a fund that helps volunteer fire departments purchase necessary equipment among other critical things. The second talks about how volunteer fire departments are responsible for the majority of emergency response outside of metropolitan areas. For the past couple of years volunteer fire departments across the USA have struggled to maintain the necessary manpower to tackle everyday emergency situations.

If you are interested in volunteering with a local department start by visiting the links on the videos below. If you are local within our area feel free to come by on a Wednesday night to Station 3 at 7pm and see what volunteer firefighters do.

Response to County-Wide Fires

Chisholm Trail Fire Rescue deployed volunteer firefighters to multiple county-wide fires over the past month. Our volunteers spent many hours on the ground assisting both local and federal agencies at Bach Ranch, Bastrop Complex (34,068 acres), Calder Road, Del-Hi and Union Chapel. We were successful in defending multiple structures in harms way and were able to aggressively attack advancing fire lines to minimize damage to property and livestock.

A little while back, Chisholm Trail Fire Rescue added two new apparatus to our fleet. Engine 13 and Tender 11. E-13 is a 2005 E-ONE currently housed at Station 3 as one of our primary engines. T-11 is a 2010 Pierce with a 3,000 gallon main tank and 4,000 gallon drop tank.

Earlier in the month, Chisholm Trail Fire Rescue received lumber donations from both Home Depot and Lowe's. Our department will be utilizing the lumber to finish a bathroom/showering area and to construct sleeping quarters (for 4 volunteers) at station 3. Building the sleeping quarters and completion of the bathroom/showering area will enable volunteers to staff station 3 in the future aiding in the ability to save crucial minutes when responding to calls.
